AR15 Mil-Spec Reduced Hammer Spring | AR-15 | reduced power spring | ar15triggerjob.com

Alternative Views:

This hammer spring is all you need to replace in order to lighten (reduce the weight) of your AR15 and AR10 trigger giving you a cleaner trigger pull for increased accuracy. It can be installed in a matter of minutes and works on all GI, Mil-Spec triggers both single and double stage. If you have a trigger in your AR that is not a complete drop-in solution, you need this spring. Use it in conjunction with our Adjustment Grip Screw for an even better trigger using your stock AR15 and AR10 trigger parts.

Application: The Reduced Power Hammer Spring is intended for competition and recreational use only and should not be installed in any rifle used for defense or duty applications. By reducing the spring tension, the introduction of light strikes or failures to fire due to the lack of primer detonation may occur.

Installation Instructions RESTRICTIONS
All you need is a punch or hex wrench small enough in diameter to push out the hammer pin located in your AR15 lower. Once you push out the hammer pin, the hammer and spring can be removed from the lower. Take note of the orientation of the spring as it sits on the hammer so that you can install the new spring in the same position. Simply pull the spring off the hammer by grabbing one of the coils and pull. Install the Reduced Power Spring onto the hammer and reinsert the hammer/spring into the lower while pushing the hammer pin back into place through the lower. Be careful not to force the pin as you attempt to push it through the lower. Remember the lower is aluminum and the pin is steel, so forcibly hitting the pin or pushing harshly it may cause damage to your lower if all is not lined up perfectly.

5 of 5 Necessary .22 conversion item. May 15, 2020
Reviewer: Timothy the machinist. from Mount Pleasant, WI United States
I have a CMMG AR-15 .22 conversion for a pistol configuration AR platform.  I design recoil systems for my 1911 hand guns, which gives me a working understanding on "blow-back" and gas operated firearms.  The stock hammer spring on an AR-15 fire control kit, is a little too stiff for the blow-back system of a .22 conversion to cycle and you wind up with failure to eject and ascending rounds to jam.  In other words the .22 blow-back doesn't have enough power to cycle because the hammer spring eats up it's inertia.  Simple physics;  your reduced power hammer spring lowers the energy needed to cock the hammer and cycle the weapon with a clean ejection and feed.  I went from a jam every other round to emptying a full mag as fast as I could pull the trigger.  The spring does not adversely affect cycling when you switch back to .223.  Good product.
