This magazine kit increases magazine capacity in the Smith & Wesson M&P-22 Compact pistol to 16 rounds. This 16rd kit is for the M&P COMPACT and NOT the Full Size M&P22 Pistol. These modifications are not permanent and easily install in minutes. With one (1) in the chamber and 16 in the magazine, that's 17 rounds in the gun! The kit consists of magazine spring, Hi-Viz NicTaylor follower, black anodized aluminum basepad and hex wrench. This kit is NOT for the Full Sized M&P22. If you have the full size M&P22 pistol you can get the 18+1 Mag kit HERE

Choose whether or not you want your pistol to lock open on the last shot fired. The original magazine kits were sold with the Shockbottle follower THAT DOES NOT lock the slide open on last shot fired. The NicTaylor follower DOES lock the slide open on last shot fired but not like the factory magazine.

Since the button on the factory magazine is removed when installing the high capacity parts, the function of locking the slide open on the last shot fired is lost. That button on the side of the factory magazine is used to actuate the slide lock feature on the gun. The NicTaylor follower is designed to catch the slide itself and thus lock the slide back/open. This technique is used frequently on AR15 22lr conversion kits. However, when doing this you lose the ability to drop the mag free since the magazine is essentially being stopped from falling free when the mag release is pressed. The user will either have to pull the magazine out or pull the slide back to its most rearward position and manually engage the slide lock. This will allow for the magazine to drop free.

3 of 5 16 round magazine February 29, 2024

Overall it works, but the magazine falls out if you don't have the slide open when installing. There is no thumb slide when loading magazine but in order to get 16 in  a tool of some sort has to be used to pull the follower down.

5 of 5 Works flawlessly February 7, 2024

Bought the 16 and 2 14's. Of the 2 types the 16 is best as it has a heavy floor plate. Easy to install and reload. Shot over 200 rounds with CCI subs and not one failure. Great product!

3 of 5 Good item. December 28, 2023

Very good item. I would’ve given it five stars but it would’ve been better if it had a loading assist like the original magazines.

the loaded mag is very hard to set into the gun and does not want to stay lock in without a very hard pushing.
